Vijay announces political entry, party named Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam

On Friday, Vijay announced his political entry, along with the announcement of his party's title. The party has been named Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. Further, the press release also mentioned that he will not be contesting for the upcoming 2024 Parliamentary elections. The party has also asserted that they will not be extending their support to any party for the upcoming elections. 

The speculations regarding the announcements have been making rounds for a while now. A few days ago, rumours suggested that the party has been named Tamizhaga Munnetra Kazhagam. However, the party has been named Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, making it TVK in short. 

The press release also detailed that the party aims to introduce Vijay as a leader who does not entertain religious and caste differences and sees every person in an equal way. 

Vijay has further said in the press release that they have submitted an application, on Friday, at the Election Commission of India, to register their party as Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. Additionally, the party also convened a general committee meeting on January 25, in which they decided the office bearers of the party, and finalised the bylaws as well. 

The goal of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam is to contest in the 2026 State General Elections and win it, to serve the people of Tamil Nadu. The party will make further announcements regarding their manifesto, flag, symbol, etc., after the upcoming 2024 Parliamentary Elections. Vijay would also be actively participating in political campaigns and meeting the general public, after the upcoming elections. 

Meanwhile, Vijay is currently working on Venkat Prabhu's Greatest Of All Time. The film also stars Prabhu Dheva, Prashanth, Mohan, Sneha, and Meenakshi Chaudhary, among others.
