Vemal's next has kicked off its filming, announced its makers. The film is backed by Ajith Vinayaka Films, the film is tentatively titled Ajith Vinayaka Films Production No 9.

The production company is behind films like Ponman, Sarkeet, Saturday Night, and Bandra, all of which are in the Malayalam language.

The film is written and directed by Elson Eldhose and Maneesh K Thoppil. The team behind the film includes Justin Prabhakaran composing the music, Karthik Netha writing the lyrics, Jiju Sunny handling the cinematography, Madan handling the editing, and Raj Kamal handling the art for the film.

Vemal, who was recently seen in Paramasivan Fathima, Maaman, and Gangers, has Desingu Raja 2 in the pipeline. CE's review of Paramasivan Fathima read, "This pernicious propaganda film takes a swipe at 'ricebag converts' while conveniently brushing under the carpet the caste inequalities and the terrible forms it takes, which is also a major reason for religious conversions."
