Aamir Khan has revealed that his upcoming cameo in Coolie, the highly anticipated Rajinikanth-Lokesh Kanagaraj collaboration, came straight from the heart and not from the script. While promoting his next release, Sitaare Zameen Par, Aamir revealed that he instantly agreed to the role without reading a single line.

Speaking to Zoom, Aamir shared, “I really enjoyed doing it. I am a big fan of Rajini sir... a huge fan. I have a lot of love and respect for him. So when Lokesh told me it’s a Rajini sir’s film and he wanted me to do a cameo, I said, ‘Done. I am doing it. Whatever it is, I am doing it.’”

This marks a special moment for fans of both stars, as Coolie unites two of Indian cinema’s biggest icons on screen. They've previously worked together in the 1995 film, Aatank Hi Aatank, helmed by Dilip Shankar. The film, directed by Kaithi and Vikram filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj, is set for release on August 14 and boasts a stellar cast featuring Nagarjuna Akkineni, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Shruti Haasan and Sathyaraj, with Pooja Hegde in a special role.

Interestingly, Lokesh has confirmed that Coolie will not be part of his famed Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU), which includes Kaithi, Vikram, and Leo. The film is backed by Sun Pictures, with Anirudh Ravichander on music, Girish Gangadharan handling cinematography, and Anbariv in charge of action choreography.

The cameo comes amid a major creative partnership between Aamir and Lokesh, with the duo set to team up for a big-budget superhero action film. “Lokesh and I are doing a film together. It’s a superhero film — a big-scale action outing,” Aamir confirmed previously. “The film will begin in the second half of 2026. We have both signed it. I cannot reveal anything further.”

Meanwhile, Aamir is gearing up for the release of Sitaare Zameen Par, directed by RS Prasanna, which is slated to hit screens on June 20. The actor is also developing two ambitious projects: his long-planned Mahabharata adaptation and a biopic on Dadasaheb Phalke, which he’s collaborating on with director Rajkumar Hirani.
