Two days after his birthday, Dhanush is back on set, actively working on his next with Por Thozhil-fame Vignesh Raja. The upcoming film, tentatively titled D54 had gone on floors on July 10. On Wednesday, the makers had unveiled a brand new image of Dhanush from the film where he is standing inside a phone booth trying to make a call. The booth, indicative of a bygone era, hints at a period setting for the film. The earlier released first look poster had him standing in front of a burning cotton field. However, much details regarding the film's story remains unknown.

The film has been jointly written by the filmmaker along with Alfred Prakash (who also co-wrote Por Thozhil). The yet-to-be-titled project, described as an action thriller, is backed by Ishari K Ganesh of Vels Film International and has music by GV Prakash Kumar.

Apart from Dhanush, the film also stars Mamitha Baiju as the female lead. Actors Jayaram, Suraj Venjaramoodu, KS Ravikumar, Karunas, Prithvi Pandiarajan, Nitin Sathyaa and Kushmitha, among others also play pivotal roles.

The rest of the technical crew consists cinematography by Theni Eswar and editing by Sreejith Sarang.

Dhanush has several projects in hand which are in various stages of production. He was last seen in Kuberaa, directed by Sekhar Kammula. He had also recently wrapped up shooting for Tere Ishk Mein. Dhanush also has Idly Kadai awaiting release, D55 with Rajkumar Periasamy, D56 with Mari Selvaraj, the untitled Ilaiyaraaja biopic helmed by Arun Matheswaran, Kalam: The Missile Man of India - Abdul Kalam biopic from Om Raut and more.
