As fans eagerly await the release of the first single from Idly Kadai, a heartfelt video of Dhanush and music composer GV Prakash jamming together has been making waves online. The clip, shared by GV on social media, shows the duo at a piano, effortlessly syncing in tune. “A small jam session with my bro @dhanushkraja before the song release tomorrow. #Idlykadai,” the composer captioned it, generating instant buzz among fans.
Dawn Pictures, co-producing the film along with Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films, reposted the moment, teasing, “Your favourite duo gets together for another beautiful song. #IdlyKadai—First single from 6PM tomorrow; here’s a promo. A @gvprakash melody.” The single drops on July 27 and is expected to set the tone for the film’s music album.
Directed by Dhanush, Idly Kadai stars him alongside Nithya Menen, with Arun Vijay playing the antagonist. The team wrapped up filming in Bangkok this April, where crucial portions featuring the entire ensemble were shot. Though initially slated for an April 10 release, the film will now hit screens on October 1. Cinematography is by Kiran Koushik, with music by GV Prakash.
While Idly Kadai marks his fourth directorial, Dhanush’s previous directorial, Raayan, recently clocked one. June 26 marked the first anniversary of the film’s release, prompting the actor-director to share a nostalgic BTS clip and a note of gratitude: “One year of a film that’s so special to us. A million thanks. #D50 #Raayan.”
Sun Pictures, the production house behind the action-drama, also celebrated the occasion with a tribute post, calling it the “1 year of Blockbuster #Raayan.” The film, which had Dhanush playing the titular role of Kaathavarayan, aka Raayan, followed the character’s fierce bond with his siblings—played by Sundeep Kishan, Kalidas Jayaram, and Dushara Vijayan.
Dushara, who portrayed Durga, shared an emotional note too: “Today marks the incredible journey of bringing the fierce #Durga to you all... this one’s for you: ‘Usurey nee thaney, nee thaney’ #OneYearOfRaayan.”
Raayan opened to a thunderous ₹23.75 crore worldwide on day one, surpassing the opening of Karnan, and eventually grossed around ₹149 crore. The film featured a powerful ensemble including SJ Suryah, Saravanan, Selvaraghavan, and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, with music by AR Rahman and cinematography by Om Prakash.
