AR Murugadoss has been on a lean pitch in the last few years, with both Darbar with Rajinikanth and Sikandar with Salman Khan turning out to be critical and commercial failures. Nevertheless, the filmmaker is hedging his bets on his upcoming film Madharasi with Sivakarthikeyan. If the Madharasi writer-director's latest statements about the film are anything to go by, it looks like Sivakarthikeyan fans are in for a treat with the film. Ahead of the release of the actor's upcoming film, Murugadoss has given a glimpse into its narrative and visual aesthetic. The filmmaker has said that he aims to bring visuals reminiscent of Thuppakki, his film with Vijay, and a screenplay similar to Ghajini, his film with Suriya, in Madharasi.
The film marks the comeback of Biju Menon to Tamil cinema following a 15-year-long hiatus. It also stars Rukmini Vasanth in her Tamil debut, as well as reuniting Murugadoss with his Thuppakki villain Vidyut Jammwal. Vikranth and Shabeer Kallarakkal, known for playing Dancing Rose in Pa Ranjith's Sarpatta Parambarai, are also part of the film's ensemble cast.
On the technical front, Madharasi has music by Anirudh, cinematography by Sudeep Elamon, editing by Sreekar Prasad, production design by Arun Venjaramoodu, and action choreography by Kevin Kumar. Produced by Sri Lakshmi Movies, Sivakarthikeyan's 23rd film is slated for a September 05 release theatrically in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi, and Kannada.
