On the occasion of Sivakarthikeyan's birthday, director AR Murugadoss unveiled the title and a glimpse video of his much-anticipated upcoming film with the Amaran actor. Titled Madharasi, the director described it to be a 'massive action' film. "The ground is set for the massive action. Let the havoc begin," he said.

The title glimpse, although short, piques enough curiosity about the storyline. Sivakarthikeyan seems to be caught between crossroads as the city witnesses a breach of security due to bomb blasts occurring in various places. We also get to see a few seconds of the leading cast members Rukmini Vasanth, Vikranth, Vidyut Jammwal, Shabeer Kallarakkal, and Biju Menon.

Madharasi will be Sivakarthikeyan's first collaboration with director Murugadoss, although the filmmaker had previously written the former's sports-comedy film Maan Karate, directed by Krish Thirukumaran.

Incidentally, the film shares its title with Arjun's 2006 action drama Madrasi, directed by the actor himself.

Produced under the Sri Lakshmi Movies banner, the film's technical crew includes cinematographer Sudeep Elamon, editor A Sreekar Prasad, and music composer Anirudh. The plot details for the film is unclear and a release date is yet to be announced by the makers.

Meanwhile Sivakarthikeyan will also be seen in Sudha Kongara's multi-starrer period film Parasakthi, which is also centred around Old Madras. Besides Sivakarthikeyan, the film stars Sreeleela in her Tamil debut, Ravi Mohan, and Atharvaa. AR Murugadoss also has Sikandar with Salman Khan in the lead.
