At the trailer and audio launch of Red Flower, actor, producer, and General Secretary of Nadigar Sangam, Vishal, placed an important request to the media and the Exhibitors Association (theatre owners).
"On behalf of the Nadigar Sangam, I would like to make a humble request to both the media and the Exhibitors’ Association. When a film releases on a Friday, I urge that YouTube audience reviewers refrain from recording public reviews within theatre premises for the first three days, that is, for at least the first 12 shows. They are, of course, welcome to share their own reviews or gather audience reactions outside the theatres," the actor said.
He further requested theatre owners to ensure that no public reviews are allowed inside the premises during this initial period. "Every film deserves a fair window to breathe, and the first 12 shows are the bare minimum for that," he added.
Film reviews have become a very common point of debate and contention in recent times. Previously, the Madras High Court dismissed a ban sought by the Tamil Film Active Producers Association on online film reviews for the initial three days after films' release. Similarly, many film directors have spoken about social media reviews of a film that have killed the review generated by it.
Vishal then spoke about the completion and inauguration of the new Nadigar Sangam building. "In the next three months, the auditorium built by the Nadigar Sangam will be ready. Once it's operational, there will no longer be any limitations in terms of space or event duration."
Talking about the postponement of his wedding, he added, "My wedding to Sai Dhansika, which was initially planned for August 29, has been temporarily postponed, as I wish for it to take place at the new Nadigar Sangam building. However, on my 48th birthday, August 29, I will be sharing a new announcement, some good news that I’m excited about. The wedding will take place soon after the new building is inaugurated, and the date for that will be announced shortly."
Helmed by debutant Andrew Pandian, Red Flower stars Vignesh in the lead role. The film will hit theatres on August 8.
Vishal, last seen in Madha Gaja Raja, has Thupparivaalan 2 in the pipeline. He is currently filming for his next with Ravi Arasu, co-starring Dushara Vijayan.
