Earlier this Thursday, Vijay Antony announced on social media the release date of his 25th film as an actor, titled Shakthi Thirumagan. The film is set to hit theatres on September 05 in theatres worldwide, alongside Sivakarthikeyan's Madharasi. The Arun Prabu directorial will also open in theatres bearing the title Bhadrakali in Telugu. It will have Malayalam and Hindi dubbed versions as well. Earlier, the makers were planning to release the Telugu version of the film with the title Parasakthi. The original plan was to use the iconic title for both Telugu and Tamil versions, but the film's makers changed it to avoid legal troubles with Dawn Pictures, the producer of Sivakarthikeyan and Sudha Kongara’s Parasakthi.

Shakthi Thirumagan also marks the return of actor Kannan, best known for his role in director Bharathiraja's 1982 film Kadhal Oviyam. The film also stars Trupthi Ravindra, Sunil Kriplani, Vaagai Chandrasekar, Master Keshav, and Cell Murugan. Vijay is composing Shakthi Thirumagan's music, besides acting in the film and producing it under his banner.

Earlier this year, the makers shared a poster giving a first look at Vijay's character in the film. The poster has the actor sitting with a gun in the middle of the The Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly building and a temple. It hints at a film with legal and religious elements.

On the technical front, Shakthi Thirumagan also has cinematography by Shelley Calist and editing by Raymond Derrick Crasta, both of whom reunite with director Arun after 2021's Vaazhl.
