The release of Sasikumar's upcoming drama, Freedom, has been postponed from its original release date of July 10. Sasikumar told CE that the film will release theatrically on July 11. According to speculation the postponement was due to the some financial issues faced by the makers.

The film is centred around a group of refugees from Sri Lanka who get caught in a police investigation based on the murder of an ex-Prime Minister of India.

After Tourist Family, Sasikumar portrays another Sri Lankan refugee, trying to escape his circumstances. The film is directed by Abhishan Jeevinth and stars Simran, Mithun Jai Shankar, Kamalesh Jagan, Ramesh Thilak, Bagavathi Perumal, MS Bhaskar, Elango Kumaravel, and Yogi Babu. The film was released on May 1.

The cast of Freedom includes Lijomol Jose, Malavika Avinash, Bose Venkat, Ramesh Khanna, Sudev Nair, and 'Boys' Manikandan.

Written and directed by Sathyasiva, the music for Freedom is done by Ghibran, with lyrics by Snehan, Mohan Rajan, and Arun Bharathi. The crew behind the film includes NS Uthayakumar as the director of photography, Srikanth NB as the editor, C Uthayakumar as the art director, with T Ramesh, Don Ashok, and Danger Mani handling stunts. Pandiyan Parasuraman is producing the film under his Vijaya Ganapathy pictures banner, with Sujatha Pandiyan serving as the co-producer.
