Kotapadi J Rajesh's next with Court-fame Sridevi Apalla goes on floors

Well-known producer Kotapadi J Rajesh's second film as a lead actor has officially kickstarted with a pooja ceremony. The film stars actor Sridevi Apalla, who delivered a powerful performance in Court: State vs A Nobody as Meruvalli Jabilli, as the female lead, marking her entry to Tamil cinema. The upcoming film is written and directed by Regan Stanislaus.

The yet-to-be-titled film will also star acclaimed Malayalam star Arjun Ashokan in his Tamil debut, along with Aju Varghese, Abishek Joseph George, and Ashwin Kkumar, among others. On the technical team, the film has music composed by Ghibran Vaibodha and stunts by Peter Hein in their second collaboration with the actor-producer following his upcoming film Angikaaram.

The new film is produced by Mini Studio, which has produced critically acclaimed films like Thittam Irandu, Enemy, Poikkal Kuthirai and the latest hit Mark Antony. The prouction house is also backing Kishen Das' upcoming project Aaromaley, directed by debutant director Sarang Thiagu.

More details on the new film is awaited from the makers. Meanwhile, KJR's first film as lead Angikaaram, was announced in May and is currently in its last leg of production. Directed by Thenpathiyan, the film is set to be a sports political drama. In an earlier interview with CE, the director said, "Angikaaram is not about one person's struggle and pursuit towards glory; my hero is a representative of the hapless athletics fraternity in India."

The film also stars Sindhoori Vishwanath, Viji Venkatesh, Antony, Rangaraj Pandey, Mohan Ram and Mansoor Ali Khan.
