With just a week to go for the release of Tharunam, starring Kishen Das, Smruthi Venkat and Raj Ayyappa in lead roles, the makers have released its trailer on Tuesday.

The 2.39-minute-long trailer dramatically opens with a murder. It then goes back to showing Kishen Das' character Arjun and his initial interactions with Meera (Smruthi Venkat). While they fall in love, they also face cracks in their relationship. Raj Ayyappa's character seems to be playing Meera's friend who feels jealous of her relationship with Arjun. Their conflict eventually leads to a dangerous point and Arjun seems to get caught in the crossfire. While the plot feels unclear, the film promises plenty of action and suspense along with romance.

Arvindh Srinivasan, known for the 2022 film Dejavu, wrote and directed the film. It is his second film as a director; his first one being the 2022 Arulnithi-starrer.

Produced by Pugazh and Eden of Zhen Studios, the film also stars Bala Saravanan in a key role. The makers released a teaser featuring the leads earlier this year that hinted at a romance film with some action.

On the technical side, it has music by Darbuka Siva, cinematography by Raja Bhattacharjee, editing by Arul Elango Siddharth, as well as stunts by Don Ashok and C Prabhu.

The film is slated to release in theatres on January 14, on the festive occasion of Pongal. Besides Tamil, Tharunam will also release in theatres with dubts in Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.
