Recently, we reported about the postponement of the release of the Ajith starrer Vidaamuyarchi. The film was initially slated for a Pongal release, alongside Bala-Arun Vijay's Vanangaan. Subsequently, in a conversation with CineUlagam, Vanangaan producer Suresh Kamatchi said that he is disappointed about the delay in the release of the Magizh Thirumeni directorial. Addressing a question about releasing Vanangaan at a time when no other big film is opening in theatres, Suresh stated that Vidaamuyarchi makers did not keep him in the loop about their film's release plans, and if they did, he would have talked to other filmmakers over releasing their films on Pongal.

There are multiple Pongal releases, including the much-delayed Vishal starrer Madha Gaja Raja, Kishen Das-Smriti Venkat's Tharunam, Jayam Ravi-Nithya Menen's Kadhalikka Neramillai, and the Vishnuvardhan directorial Nesippaya.

Vanangaan also stars Roshni Prakash, John Vijay, Samuthirakani, Radha Ravi, Mysskin, Ridha, and Chaya Devi. On the technical front, it has GV Prakash Kumar as the composer and Sam CS for the background music.
