Three years after the release of his Thunivu, Ajith Kumar's Vidaamuyarchi released in theatres worldwide on Thursday to much fanfare.

The actor's Mankatha collaborator, director Venkat Prabhu, shared his thoughts about the film helmed by Magizh Thirumeni. Taking to his X handle, the GOAT director wrote that Vidaamuyarchi "Stays true to its genre a solid road film." He praised that Ajith playing a common man was "so refreshing" and called Arjun a "surprise" character. He wished the team a "super duper blockbuster."

Filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj too called the film an "interesting action thriller." He further praised that the film is "Technically well made with superb action sequences and nice performances" of Ajith, Trisha, Arjun and the rest of the star cast. He wished the team a "blockbuster box office success."

An excerpt from the CE review of the film reads, "Vidaamuyarchi has a big, honest heart, much like its protagonist. It could have been shaped differently, into something grander, something more easily gratifying, in keeping with our commercial cinema rules, but I like that it doesn't go that route. Because it doesn't, we get the rare pleasure of seeing a truly unique protagonist—not a hero, but a man who refuses to give up on even those even when they have given up on themselves (one character even confesses to hating himself)."

Vidaamuyarchi also stars Trisha Krishnan, Arjun Sarja, and Regina Cassandra in key roles. Recently, the makers of the film added Ramya Subramanian, also known as VJ Ramya, to the cast. The film has music by Anirudh Ravichander, cinematography by Om Prakash, editing by NB Srikanth, and action by Supreme Sundar.
