Even before its release, Jana Nayagan has already been knocking several records from its stands. In that way, the grand audio launch of Jana Nayagan held on Saturday at Bukit Jalil Stadium in Malaysia has achieved a few feat. The grand event, which saw almost 80,000 people in attendance from across the world including top celebrities, fans and public, has now been entered in the Malaysia Book of Records, according to reports. The 'Thalapathy Thiruvizha' marked the first instance where such a massive crowd gathered for the audio launch of a Tamil film outside India.

With Jana Nayagan marking Vijay's final appearance in films before his full-fledged entry to politics, the actor gave an emotional speech, and reiterated his decision to quit acting for a career in politics. “I entered cinema expecting to build a sand house, but you provided me with a palace,” Vijay said. The actor and TVK leader added that he aims to stand for the next many years for the same people who flocked to theatres to watch his films in his whole career. The actor also mentioned that he has “a strong enemy” now that makes him push towards greater success. “History will repeat next year,” Vijay said, seemingly referring to the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election.

Jana Nayagan, directed by H Vinoth stars an ensemble cast and said to revolve around Vijay’s role as a police officer. Pooja Hegde and Bobby Deol essay pivotal roles. The rest of the cast members are: Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Priyamani, Mamitha Baiju, and others. Plot details have not been revealed yet.

Reportedly, the film's pre-release business figures amount up to more than 325 crore. The industry tracker Sacnilk also backed these figures. According to the website, the film has gained 80 crore from its overseas rights, 35 crore from audio rights, 110 crore from streaming rights.

The film is backed by Venkat K Narayana under the KVN Productions banner and co-produced by Jagadish Palanisamy and Lohith NK. Jana Nayagan  has music composed by Anirudh Ravichander, camera work by Sathyan Sooryan and editing by Pradeep E Ragav.

Jana Nayagan gears up for a Pongal 2026 release. It is set for a clash at the box office with Sivakarthikeyan’s period drama Parasakthi, directed by Sudha Kongara, which hits screens on January 10, 2026. Meanwhile the audio launch event is set to be streamed on ZEE5 on January 4.
