Chaotic scenes unfolded at Chennai airport after actor Vijay returned from Malaysia following the grand audio launch of his upcoming film Jana Nayagan. The actor-politician, who flew to the city on Sunday, was greeted by a sea of fans outside the airport but was mobbed within moments.
Visuals from the airport quickly made their way online, showing Vijay struggling to leave the venue despite being heavily guarded by security personnel. As the crowd swelled, major pushing and pulling ensued. Vijay lost his balance amid the mayhem and fell. He was later quickly escorted by his security team safely back to his car.
While Vijay did not sustain any injuries, the incident has once again raised serious concerns about crowd control and the safety of artists amid overwhelming fan gatherings. Previously actors Nidhhi Agerwal and Samantha faced similar issues during two different events.
The audio launch titled 'Thalapathy Thiruvizha' was conducted on Saturday, December 27 at an extravagant event in Bukit Jalil Stadium in Malaysia where almost 80,000 people including top celebrities, fans and public gathered to celebrate the actor for his final film outing before he steps into full-fledged politics. For the unversed, the actor's party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) is contesting in the upcoming state elections in Tamil Nadu, which is scheduled to take place next year.
Jana Nayagan, directed by H Vinoth stars an ensemble cast and said to revolve around Vijay’s role as a police officer. Pooja Hegde and Bobby Deol essay pivotal roles. The rest of the cast members are: Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Priyamani, Mamitha Baiju, and others. Plot details have not been revealed yet.
The film is backed by Venkat K Narayana under the KVN Productions banner and co-produced by Jagadish Palanisamy and Lohith NK. Jana Nayagan has music composed by Anirudh Ravichander, camera work by Sathyan Sooryan and editing by Pradeep E Ragav.
As Jana Nayagan prepares for its Pongal 2026 release, it is set for a clash at the box office with Sivakarthikeyan’s period drama Parasakthi, directed by Sudha Kongara, which hits screens on January 10, 2026.
