On Sunday, filmmaker Mari Selvaraj took to his official X handle to pen a note on Vikram Prabhu's 25th film, Sirai. Helmed by Suresh Rajakumari, it also marks the debut of LK Akshay Kumar, son of producer SS Lalit Kumar.

Praising the film, Mari wrote, "I watched Sirai, and my heart feels completely fulfilled. The arrival of creators who clearly understand what kind of stories, what kind of people, what kind of politics, and what kind of compassion should be transformed into cinema gives the next generation immense hope and courage. Sirai has emerged as one such extraordinary work."

Further, appreciating the cast and crew, the Bison director added, "My congratulations and gratitude to director Suresh Rajakumari, who has made a remarkable leap with his very first film; to Vikram Prabhu sir, who stepped in with the conviction that this was the story he wanted to tell; to producer Lalith, who backed this project with the firm belief that good cinema will always triumph; to LK Akshay Kumar, who made his debut as a lead and delivered a sincere, promising performance; to my friend Justin Prabhakaran for his wonderful music; and to the entire film team. Sirai truly deserves to see theatres filled to capacity."

Upon its release on December 25, Sirai opened to positive reviews. Anantha and Anishma Anilkumar also star in prominent roles in the film, which has a script penned by Taanakkaran fame Tamizh, alongside the debut director Suresh.

An excerpt from CE's review of the film reads, "Every aspect of society is forcibly shackled to each other, and these disjointed links are the bedrock of this orderly chaos. The dreamers believe that all it takes for the chaos to right itself is one link that finds a conscience, and the pragmatists know that the system will always find a way to replace this conscientious link. Debut director Suresh Rajakumar's Sirai lays bare the harsh truths of this world and proclaims to the world that empathy might just be the biggest heroism of a person."
