With actor Ajith Kumar currently focussed on building his racing career along with balancing one film commitment at a time, speculations were rife that a documentary film on his passion for sport and his achievements in the field was being made by well-known director Vijay.

Confirming the same, the Deiva Thirumagal filmmaker said he was fortunate to document his life on the racing track. "Ajith and Suresh Chandra sir wanted me to do this. When the actor came on the first day, he said, 'Welcome to my world'. This is not what we think, it's a completely different world altogether. When you look at it from outside, it might feel like it is simple. It is not like that at all. Everything is a do or die scenario," he said, recalling a few moments and words from the Good Bad Ugly actor.

"He told me that it is difficult to change drivers on the track. While doing so, one has to do it in 20 seconds. It's not easy. It requires fitness and mental planning. When I asked him about the same, he said, 'Yeah, you have to come out alive'. Those are big words. This is the world of motorsports and Ajith sir is doing it passionately. I am witnessing that first hand and documenting with my three camera set-up and shooting it in 4K resolution," he elaborated.

While the director did not reveal if it would be a documentary or a docu-film, he shared that Ajith Kumar would decide the final output. "For now, we want to document it well. It has been a great experience so far. All of us know Ajith as a superstar, but seeing him work hard for his passion is very surprising. After coming here, my respect for him as well as for the sports has increased tremendously. He would surely be looked at as a motorsports icon in India," he added.

Last weekend at Malaysia's Sepang International Circuit, Ajith Kumar competed in the opening rounds of the 2025-26 Asian Le Mans Series with his team in the LMP3 class alongside Team Virage. Viral videos on social media showed director Vijay and Adhik Ravichandran managing the crowds who had come to witness the actor.

Besides the documentary film, director Vijay is working on Kadhal Reset Repeat, which marks the lead acting debuts of Madumkesh and Jiya Shankar. Harris Jayaraj composes music for the film. In February next year, Ajith will start shooting for AK64 where he reunites with Adhik Ravichandran.
