D Imman on Kumki: 'Still overwhelmed by the love every time someone asks for...'

Kumki, directed by Prabu Solomon, released in 2012, with D Imman's music receiving acclaimation

It has been 13 years since Kumki released theatrically, but music composer D Imman revealed that he still receives love for the song, 'Onnum Puriyala'. The composer also took to X and shared a video of him singing the song for the fans.

Taking to his X handle he wrote, "13 years of Kumki. Still overwhelmed by the love every time someone asks for 'Onnum Puriyala'."

He added, "Visited a textile store at Coimbatore recently, and the staff and customers there surprised me by requesting this song with so much affection… couldn’t resist singing it for them."

Directed by Prabhu Solomon, Kumki, was well recieved for its plot and performances. The film followed the story of an elephant caretaker who is charged with protecting a village from a rogue elephant. Vikram Prabhu and Lakshmi Menon lead the cast of the film.

A sequel Kumki 2, was released in November, with Prabhu Solomon returning to direct. The film starred Mathi, Shrrita Rao, Arjun Das, among others.
