Actor Suriya, who was last seen in Karthik Subbaraj's Retro, joined filmmaker Lingusamy and the team of Anjaan to watch the re-edited version of the film during a special screening on Wednesday.

Director Lingusamy's 2014 gangster drama, starring Samantha as the female lead, was recently re-edited and re-released. Pruning around 45-50 minutes from the original runtime, the crisper version received less criticism in comparison to its initial version.

During the re-release, Lingusamy said that though some of his mistakes were blown out of proportion, he felt some genuine criticisms about certain scenes and sequences making the film "too draggy," so he went ahead with the re-edits.

The film also stars Vidyut Jammwal, Samantha, and Manoj Bajpayee in pivotal roles. The film has Krishna (Suriya), the twin brother of the dreaded and deceased gangster Raju Bhai (also Suriya), coming to Mumbai to know what really happened to his brother and who killed him. Krishna discards his guise to reveal himself as Raju, who escaped the attempt on his life. He is set to search and eliminate those who have snitched on him.

On the work front, Suriya will be seen next in RJ Balaji's Karuppu, which reunites him with Trisha after nearly two decades, since Aaru (2005). He is presently working with Venky Atluri for his 46th film, which also stars Mamitha Baiju. His 47th film, directed by Aavesham helmer Jithu Madhavan, went on floors recently. The film brings Suriya together with Nazriya Fahadh and Naslen for the first time.
