It was earlier announced by the makers of Ponram's upcoming film Kombuseevi, starring Sarath Kumar and Shanmuga Pandiyan Vijayakant, would release on December 25, coinciding with Christmas. The film will get an early release, according to the latest update.

The makers announced on Tuesday that the film will release a week earlier, on December 19.

The earlier released teaser of the film depicted both the lead characters making country-made bombs to defend the village from Pakistan. There seems to be a serious angle to the story, which seems to rely on humour.

Ponram, who has made Varutha Padatha Valibar Sangam, Rajini Murugan, and DSP, is collaborating with actor Shanmuga Pandian for the first time. The rest of the star cast of Kombuseevi also comprises stars Kaali Venkat, Kalki Raja, and Tharnika in supporting roles. In addition to Yuvan Shankar Raja, the film has cinematographer Balasubramaniem, editor Dinesh Ponnuraj, and action choreographers Phoenix Prabhu and Saravana Sakthi in its technical team. Kombuseevi is produced by Mukesh Chelliah of Star Cinemas.
