Silambarasan, who was part of a recent event in Malaysia excited fans and audiences by sharing a crucial update on his much-awaited film Arasan, directed by Vetri Maaran.

The actor, who was at the country for the launch of a leading jewellery store, shared that the gangster drama will go on floors from December 9 in Madurai. "I'm going to the shoot directly from here..As always, I'm counting on receiving all your love and support," he said.

As reported earlier, the drama is a part of Vetri Maaran’s Vada Chennai universe and is the 49th film in Silambarasan's acting career. Its screenplay is an iteration of the one the filmmaker had written for Vada Chennai when Silambarasan was in line to star in it. However, Dhanush soon came on board for Vada Chennai. The makers describe it as “an untold tale from the world of Vada Chennai.” According to the recent promo, the film features Silambarasan in two avatars: as a youngster and as an aged man.

Arasan is expected to feature notable names from Vada Chennai, including Andrea reprising her role as Chandra, Samuthirakani, and Kishore, alongside newcomers Manikandan and Nelson Dilipkumar. However, an official confirmation regarding the same is awaited. Recently, it was announced that Vijay Sethupathi had joined the cast. This marks his second collaboration with the director as well as the actor. Although they exist in the same universe, Dhanush's character Anbu is confirmed not to be part of Arasan.

The film also features Anirudh's music which marks his first collaboration with Vetri Maaran. The film is produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu under his V Creations banner.

The makers are yet to reveal further details about the upcoming film, including its plot, rest of the cast, and technical crew.
