Vetri Maaran, who recently served as a mentor for Kavin's latest action thriller Mask, saw himself at the centre of hundreds of memes on social media over the last few days over his recent reactions at an event. His facial expressions that changes from anger to laughter over a couple of seconds travelled far and wide and was being used by noted celebrities, IPL teams and even the BJP India handle to generate content and memes.

When the video was played to him a few days ago, Vetri Maaran laughed and revealed that he was aware of the barrage of memes made on him, but couldn't recall the origin of what led to his now-viral reactions. "To be honest, I have no idea when it was shot, but I remember that this was during Mask's pre-release event. For the first two days after the event, I hadn't known about this. Later, I was sent more than 50 video memes with my face on it to make a mocking commentary on everyday scenarios and relationships. I truly don't remember what was the origin behind my reactions. I am still trying to recollect...," he said.

Mask, directed by debutant Vikarnan Ashok and also starring Andrea Jeremiah in the lead, is currently running in theatres. The film was also Andrea's maidan prouduction venture. She produced the film alongside SP Chockalingam. Connecting a heist, a private investigator, and a philanthropist with a dark secret, the film also starred Ruhani Sharma, Pawan, Charle, Bala Saravanan, and Archana Chandhoke, among others.

Meanwhile, Vetri Maaran is also working on Arasan, his upcoming film with Silambarasan which is set in the Vada Chennai universe. Recently, Vijay Sethupathi had joined the film's cast. Its screenplay is an iteration of the one the filmmaker had written for Vada Chennai when Silambarasan was in line to star in it. However, Dhanush soon came on board for Vada Chennai. The makers describe it as “an untold tale from the world of Vada Chennai.” According to the recent promo, the film features Silambarasan in two avatars: as a youngster and as an aged man.

Arasan is expected to feature notable names from Vada Chennai, including Andrea reprising her role as Chandra, Samuthirakani, and Kishore, alongside newcomers Manikandan and Nelson Dilipkumar. However, an official confirmation regarding the same is awaited. Although they exist in the same universe, Dhanush's character Anbu is confirmed not to be part of Arasan.
