Director Nelson joined in other celebrities by congratulating Rajinikanth, on the actor's completion of 50 years in Tamil cinema. Nelson directed the actor on the 2022 film, Jailer.

Nelson wrote, "Hearty congratulations to the mammoth superstar ever Rajinikanth sir️ for completing 50 magical year in cinema." He added, "Can’t wait to watch Coolie advance congratulations my dear friends Lokesh Kanagaraj, Anirudh, and Sun Pictures for a monstrous hit ."

Rajinikanth made his debut with Apoorva Ragangal, which was directed by K Balachandar. The film also starred Kamal Haasan, Srividya, Nagesh, and 'Major' Sundarrajan. The film was also the first of the collaborations between Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan.

Nelson directed Rajinikanth in Jailer, which also starred Ramya Krishnan, Shivarajkumar, Sunil, with Mohanlal making a cameo appearance. A sequel Jailer 2 is in the works, with Nelson returning to write and direct, with Anirudh composing the music.
