Arun Vijay, who was last seen in director Bala's Vanangaan, is awaiting the release of Retta Thala, directed by Kris Thirukumaran. The actor, who thrives on challenging roles, underlined that this film too pushed his boundaries. During the teaser launch of the action thriller, the actor revealed, "I have done four makeovers for this film. Akin to Victor from Yennai Arindhaal which was a challenging character, playing Kaali and Upendra too was difficult, but I loved taking on these roles. I am sure Retta Thala will be loved by all of you"

Speaking on the nature of the film, he revealed that it will be a "thrilling and fast-paced film." He further stated, "When the OTT space dominated the industry, we were clear to make this a full-fledged theatrical film for the audience to enjoy. When Kris (the director) narrated me the story, many scenes gave me goosebumps. Every 15 minutes had a high in it. I think that aspect will always attract audiences in the theatre."

Heaping praise on Sam CS's music, he said, "The location and its grandeur, along with Sam's music are the pillars of the film. He had initially used some other music for this teaser and then told us he will work on something else for making it engaging. He changed the music just two days before its launch."

Retta Thala, which has Arun Vijay playing dual roles, is backed by Bobby Balachandran under his banner BTG Universal. Thirukumaran has previously worked with AR Murugadoss in Gajini, Ezham Arivu, Thuppakki and Sarkar and is best known for helming the Sivakarthikeyan-starrer Maan Karate (2014) which marked his directorial debut. It had a script written by Murugadoss. He then made Gethu (2016), starring Udhayanidhi Stalin, Amy Jackson and Sathyaraj.

Apart from Arun Vijay and Siddhi Idnani, Tanya Ravichandran will also be seen in a prominent role. Kannada actor Yogesh will be playing the antagonist in Retta Thala, marking his Tamil debut. The film wrapped shooting in October last year.

The technical crew of Retta Thala consists of music director Sam CS, cinematographer Tijo Tomy, and editor Anthony. The makers are yet to reveal a release date for the film. Apart from Retta Thala, Arun Vijay also has Idly Kadai scheduled to hit theatres on October 1.
