Shruti Haasan, who is all set to be seen in the role of Preethi, Sathyaraj's daughter, in Lokesh Kanagaraj's Coolie, recently opened up about working with Rajinikanth and her observations of the actor in conversation with Sudhir Srinivasan.

Opening up about Rajinikanth's offscreen persona, she shared, "Rajini sir is incredibly friendly on set. I’d heard stories about people’s experiences working with him, but witnessing it firsthand during Coolie was something else entirely. He truly has a golden heart and radiates such positive energy."

She added that Rajinikanth is unpredictable. "Having grown up with a star at home, I’m used to certain traits and dynamics, but with Rajini sir, you really learn to expect the unexpected. I never imagined working with him would feel so effortless—he’s genuinely easygoing, light-hearted, and has a wonderful sense of humour."

Sharing more details about his preference for solitude, Shruti said, "What’s even more fascinating is that he’s just as comfortable withdrawing into solitude; sometimes, he’ll sit quietly for hours, not talking or socialising, and he won’t even reach for his phone. His moments of silence aren’t about detachment but rather about finding peace and simply being present. I find that so admirable, as it takes a lot of personal growth to reach that state."

However, she is quick to add that no intimidation comes with the stardom. "Despite his immense stardom, Rajini sir is never intimidating. His communication always seems focused on making others feel comfortable, rather than fulfilling any need to speak. And above all, he listens to people with genuine earnestness. It’s truly remarkable."

On her observations of Rajinikanth as an actor, she further mentioned, "Nothing he does is an accident. There is almost a mathematical precision in his acting. But it all feels very spontaneous. In this film, I had a very close shot with him, and that's when it hit me: it is Superstar Rajinikanth!"

Also starring Nagarjuna, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and Reba Monica John, with cameo appearances by Pooja Hegde and Aamir Khan, Coolie is set to hit the screens on August 14.
