Sequels have become popular in Tamil cinema only in the past decade, with many top stars hesitant to expand their films into franchises. Actor Sivakarthikeyan is no different either.

As the actor is gearing up for his upcoming film Madharaasi, set for a release in September, he was present at the Nasscom People Summit 2025. In his speech, he opened up about his inhibitions about working on sequels. "I am very scared about sequels. I will make sure that the second part won't spoil the first one. But I think we should try a sequel to Maaveeran as I feel it is a unique script."

His statement on the second part of Maaveeran has fuelled speculations about his reunion with Madonne Ashwin. In the eventuality of the project, the Mandela director will be added to the actor's lineup that already has Venkat Prabhu.

Maaveeran, released in 2023, is about a cartoonist, who, after an accident, is able to communicate with the vigilante comic character he created and fights a corrupt politician.

Last seen in the critically appreciated and commercially successful Amaran, Sivakarthikeyan next awaits the release of Madharaasi, helmed by AR Murugadoss, and Parasakthi, directed by Sudha Kongara.
