Narain, who was last seen in the Malayalam anthology series Manorathangal (2024), is working on multiple films and is awaiting a few releases in Tamil and Malayalam as well. This includes the much-anticipated Vijay-starrer Jana Nayagan, directed by H Vinoth.

In an interview with MediaOne for the promotions of his upcoming Malayalam film Sahasam, he revealed that he plays a guest role in the political action thriller. "I play a scientist in the film. It is a guest role. However it is an important one. I finished filming for it. There are huge expectations for the film," he shared.

Jana Nayagan also stars Bobby Deol, Priyamani, Pooja Hegde, Prakash Raj, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, and Teejay Arunasalam.

Directed by H Vinoth in his first collaboration with Vijay, Jana Nayagan is intended to be the final film appearance of Vijay before his full-fledged entry into politics. It went on floors in October 2024. The makers had recently revealed a glimpse titled 'First Roar' which featured Vijay in a police avatar.

The film reunites Vijay with Prakash Raj after Varisu, Pooja Hegde after Beast, and Gautham Vasudev Menon after Leo. The film also reportedly stars actor Revathy as Vijay's mother. Revathi's previous collaboration with Vijay was in the 2002 film Thamizhan, where she played his sister.

On the technical front, Jana Nayagan features music composed by Anirudh, cinematography by Sathyan Sooryan, editing by Pradeep E Ragav, action choreography by Anl Arasu, and art direction by Selva Kumar.

Jana Nayagan is produced by Venkat K Narayana and co-produced by Lohith N K and Jagadish Palanisamy. The film will be released in theatres on January 9, 2026, for the Pongal festival season.

Meanwhile, Narain's Sahasam is slated to hit theatres on August 8. The film, written and directed by Twenty One Grams (2022) filmmaker Bibin Krishna, also stars Babu Antony, Gouri Kishan, and Ramzan Muhammed in the lead roles.
