The first single, ‘Jinguchaa’, from Kamal Haasan's Thug Life was unveiled at an event in Chennai attended by key cast and crew members, including Mani Ratnam, Kamal Haasan, Silambarasan, A R Rahman, Ashok Selvan, and Trisha.

At the event, A R Rahman took over the mic to say a few words about the film and working with Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam. “This is Kamal Sir’s film, and he’s done an incredible job. Every time I scored a scene, it felt like he was silently questioning me—challenging what I was going to bring to it musically. This film marks Kamal sir’s reunion with Mani sir after Nayakan. But this isn’t like Nayakan; Thug Life is a completely different beast. I’m still working on the score, and while it does not have the pressure that Nayakan might have had, Thug Life is very forward-thinking, especially when it comes to its music. I’m genuinely excited for its release.”

The extended cast of Thug Life comprises Trisha, Silambarasan Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Joju George, Abhirami, Nassar, Mahesh Manjrekar, Tanikella Bharani, Vadivukkarasi, Chinni Jayanth, Vaiyapuri, Bagavathi Perumal, Baburaj, Ali Fazal, Rohit Saraf, Arjun Chidambaram, Chetan, and Rajashri Deshpande.

Cinematographer Ravi K Chandran and editor Sreekar Prasad are also a part of Thug Life. The film marks Rahman’s 19th film with Mani Ratnam and he has previously composed music for Kamal Haasan’s Indian and Thenali. Udhayanidhi's Red Giant Movies, Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Film International, and Mani Ratnam's Madras Talkies are co-producing the upcoming film.

Thug Life, which marks Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan's reunion after 36 years since their hit outing, Nayakan, is all set to hit theatres on June 5. The audio launch of the film is slated to take place on May 16.
