The makers of Kamal Haasan’s Thug Life launched the first single, ‘Jinguchaa’ at an event in Chennai, on Friday. The key cast and crew members of the film, namely, Mani Ratnam, Kamal Haasan, Silambarasan, A R Rahman, Ashok Selvan, Trisha and more, were present.

Speaking at the event, Silambarasan said that he is privileged to have shared screen space with Kamal Haasan, whom he considers his onscreen guru. “This film is like a dream. We all watch Mani sir's films, listen to Rahman sir's music and wish to be a part of their film. The fact that I got to act alongside Kamal sir, my onscreen guru, Mani sir and Rahman sir in one film is a big blessing.”

Silambarasan has already worked with Mani Ratnam in Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, along with Arun Vijay and Aravind Swamy. “Back when I shot Chekka Chevantha Vaanam itself, I found it difficult to work because of how much I admired Mani sir. It took time for me to adapt to his way of working, while I was also keeping my inner fanboy under control. This time around, with Kamal sir and Rahman sir also a part of the film, it was even more difficult. I have grown up admiring and watching Kamal sir all my life, and I am more than grateful to him for giving me a space next to him in this film.”

Lastly, he also touched upon working with Trisha; the hit combination coming back together after Vinnai Thaandi Varuviya. “I am happy to have come back together with Trisha; Thug Life is a very different kind of film compared to VTV.” Simbu also assured that Mani Ratnam has tried something new with this upcoming film. “This is going to be a brilliant attempt from Mani Ratnam, sir, something different also,” he concluded.
