The trailer for Kaali Venkat's upcoming film, Dhonima, was unveiled by makers on Sunday. Directed by Jagadeesan Subu, the film stars Kaali Venkat and Roshni Prakash in lead roles.

The trailer shows Kaali Venkat and Roshni as a couple waiting to get the papers or 'patta' for their land. While they seem to be exploited by a politician on the one hand, we also see the couple and their son nurturing a pet dog, calling her Dhonima. The trailer also shows Kaali's character to be an alcoholic, which affects his relationship with his family.

In an earlier conversation with CE, Jagadeesan said about the film, "Dhonima is the name of a golden retriever puppy. You can say he is the primary lead of the film. Kaali Venkat plays Kotti, a construction worker who is an alcoholic and an irresponsible person. He pushes through his life one day at a time and doesn't care about his son Dravid (Vishav Raj), who has a hearing issue."

The technical crew of Dhonima comprises cinematography by Packiaraj and Sajith Kumar, music composed by EJ Johnson, editing by Tamil Arasan, and art direction by Madan M. Produced by Sai Venkateswaran, the film is all set to hit theatres on September 20.
