Amid massive anticipation for Vijay's upcoming film The Greatest of All Time (GOAT) which is set for release tomorrow, September 5, the Tamil Nadu government has given a green signal for special shows to be screened in theatres. In an official statement, the government has granted the makers permission to screen shows for 9 am September 5.
Following the request from director of AGS Entertainment, the government has only granted one special show for 9 am on September 5. While the first show is allowed only for 9 am, the last show should end at 2 am. The maximum number of shows allowed in Tamil Nadu theatres is limited to five per day.
The relief comes after theatres rolled back its decision to hold special shows, alleging that the distributors forced them to sell tickets above the government-mandated price.
Creative producer and CEO of AGS Cinemas Archana Kalpathi shared the government statement on her X handle and said, "A big thank you to our Tamil Nadu Government and Udhayanidhi Stalin Na for granting special shows and extending the show time and supporting cinema as always."
Apart from the order allowing special shows, the statement further laid rules to theatres, noting that theatres should make appropriate security arrangement so that people and spectators can enter and leave without difficulty, by providing sufficient time to clean and maintain the theatre in a hygienic manner. It also mentioned that adequate arrangements should be made with the cooperation and security of the Police department without causing any health impairment and overcrowding in theatres.
Apart from Vijay, GOAT also stars Prashanth, Ajmal Ameer, Sneha, Laila, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Prabhudeva, Mohan, and Jayaram in prominent roles. Joining them are Venkat Prabhu's frequent collaborators Vaibhav, Premgi, Ajai Raj, and Aravind Akash. Late actor and politician Vijayakanth will appear in the film with the help of AI technology.
GOAT, directed by Venkat Prabhu, has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, cinematography by Siddhartha Nuni, editing by Venkat Raajen, art direction by Rajeevan, and action choreography by Dileep Subbarayan. Kalpathi S Aghoram has produced the film under the AGS Entertainment banner, with Archana Kalpathi serving as the creative producer. The film is slated for a September 5 release.
The film is slated in the IMAX format in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu, with Zee Studios distributing it across North Indian states in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
