Appreciation posts come thick and fast for the Sivakarthikeyan starrer Amaran following its release today. A while ago, we reported about Atlee lauding the team behind the film, which he considers "too emotional." Now, Chief Minister MK Stalin has also come in support of the Major Mukund Varadarajan biopic.
The CM said that he watched the film a day before its release at producer Kamal Haasan's invitation. Taking to X, he wrote, "I'm happy that just like books, films too are taking true stories to today's youth. Tamil Nadu's very own soldier Mukund Varadarajan's bravery and sacrifice was emotionally captured by director Rajkumar Periasamy. Major Mukund Varadarajan and Mrs Indhu Rebecca Varghese's characters in the film were exceptionally portrayed by Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi. And for the entire team of Amaran, I extend my congratulations. For the soldiers who protect our nation and for Major Mukund Varadarajan who lives on in our memory, a big salute."
The cast also includes Bhuvan Arora as Sepoy Vikram Singh and Rahul Bose as Mukund's Commanding Officer, Colonel Amit Singh Dabas.
The film reportedly tells the real story of the late Major Mukund, a recipient of Ashoka Chakra. Mukund received the honor for his "exemplary leadership skills, raw courage and swift action" while fighting militants in Kashmir in 2014.
