Within few hours of Rajinikanth's Vettaiyan release on Thursday, the action drama was leaked on pirated sites illegally. The news has taken fans by shock who expressed their concerns on their social media handles. While there has been no comment on the same from the makers, they have requested fans to help discourage piracy of Vettaiyan by not downloading or streaming from illegitimate sources. They have also shared a few social media handles and an email ID where fans can report such instances.

Apart from Rajinikanth, the TJ Gnanavel directorial also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Dushara Vijayan, Manju Warrier, Abhirami, Rana Daggubati, Ritika Singh, Rohini, Kishore, and VJ Rakshan, among others. Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan are reuniting for a film after 33 years.

The film's technical team comprises music by Anirudh Ravichander, editing by Philomin Raj, and cinematography by SR Kathir. The film has opened to mixed reviews from critics and audiences.

Vettaiyan saw its highest earnings in Tamil Nadu, generating Rs 26 crores, followed by Telugu collections of over Rs 3 crores. However, its Hindi version faced a setback due to the ongoing OTT-release dispute, resulting in a limited release excluding national cinema chains, potentially impacting its overall box office success.
