Vettaiyan Trailer: It's Rajinikanth versus Amitabh Bachchan in this police thriller

The much-awaited trailer for the upcoming Rajinikanth film Vettaiyan was released on Wednesday. The TJ Gnanavel film hits theatres on October 10 and boasts an ensemble cast including Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, Kishore, and VJ Rakshan.

Going by the trailer, it will see Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan come from opposing view points on encounter killings. Rajinikanth plays a policeman who speaks for the concept, while Amitabh speaks against it. The two megastars of Indian cinema are reuniting after 33 years; their last film together was Hum in 1991. The trailer goes on to show glimpses of the other characters and promises a lot of action as well as discussion about the concept of encounter justice.

On the technical crew, Vettaiyan has music by Anirudh. This marks Anirudh's fourth collaboration with Rajinikanth after Petta (2019), Darbar (2020), and Jailer (2023). Other members include cinematographer SR Kathir and editor Philomin Raj.

Vettaiyan is scheduled to hit theatres on October 10 in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada.
