Rajinikanth's Vettaiyan clears censorship formalities

Lyca Productions, which is bankrolling Rajinikanth's upcoming film Vettaiyan has announced that the film has cleared censorship formalities and has received a U/A certificate from the CBFC. The film is slated for worldwide release in theatres on October 10.

Directed by TJ Gnanavel, Vettaiyan stars an ensemble cast that includes Amitabh Bachchan (in his Tamil debut) playing the role of Sathyadev, Fahadh Faasil as Patrick, Rana Daggubati as Natraj, Manju Warrier as Thara, Ritika Singh as Roopa, Kishore as Harish, Abhirami as Swetha, Dushara Vijayan as Saranya, Rohini as Nazeema and VJ Rakshan. Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth are reuniting for this film after 33 years. Their last film was Hum, which was released in 1991.

The film's audio and prevue were launched recently in Chennai. The glimpse suggests that the film will discuss extrajudicial killings by police officers. The trailer is set to be unveiled on October 2.

On the technical crew, Vettaiyan has music by Anirudh. This marks Anirudh's fourth collaboration with Rajinikanth. Other members include cinematographer SR Kathir and editor Philomin Raj.
