After a resounding success at the box office, the streaming announcement of Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi starrer Amaran has been made on Saturday.
The film's production house, Raaj Kamal Films International (RKFI), announced with a poster that Amaran will debut on Netflix on December 5 in Tamil, Kannada, Hindi, Telugu and Malayalam.
The film is based on the life of late Major Mukund Varadarajan in the army and his brave stint in the 44th Rashtriya Rifles battalion in Jammu and Kashmir. The film also explores the relationship that Mukund and his wife Indhu share.
The film opened to majorly positive reviews from the audience and critics upon its release on Diwali day on October 31. The film's team was recently honoured by the Officers Training Academy and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
Apart from Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi, the film also stars Bhuvan Arora as Sepoy Vikram Singh and Rahul Bose as Mukund's commanding officer, Colonel Amit Singh Dabas. Lallu, Shreekumar, Shyam Mohan, Ajaey Naga Raaman, Mir Salman and Gaurav Venkatesh round up the supporting cast. Amaran is based on Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh's book India's Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Military.
Amaran's crew includes music composer GV Prakash Kumar, cinematographer CH Sai, editor Kalaivanan, and stunt director Stefan Richter. The film is bankrolled by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International along with Sony Pictures International Productions. With the film's massive success, the Tamil Nadu Film Exhibitor's Association recently wrote to the makers requesting a postponement of the film's OTT release.
