As Sai Pallavi-Siva Karthikeyan's recent film Amaran continues to make and break collection records at the box-office thanks to steady footfall, the Tamil Nadu Film Exhibitor's Association wrote to the makers requesting a postponement of the film's OTT release.
Penning a note congratulating the team on a big theatrical success, the exhibitor's body requested to postpone the film's digital release to at least 8 weeks to 'honor the excellent run it is having in theatres.' Amaran was first planned to get an OTT release after 4 weeks of its theatrical debut; it is now been stalled by one week. It is yet to be known whether the makers of the Rajkumar Periasamy film will pay heed to the request of the exhibitors.
The film reportedly crossed Rs 200 crore-mark at the global box office recently.
Our CE review of the film reads, "Sivakarthikeyan will no doubt secure many plaudits for his physical transformation, for owning the action scenes and the motivational speeches… but I caught myself being especially impressed with how he seemed to radiate an effortless sense of goodness and vulnerability, despite his job requiring him to be an alpha male at all times. Watch him tear up as he pleads for a teammate’s life. Watch the joy in his eyes during his OTA ceremony, with Indhu smiling softly in the background in a beautifully composed shot. Watch him hug Indhu and daughter and walk away, but change his mind to return to steal another embrace from them both. These are powerful, heartfelt moments."
The film also stars Bhuvan Arora as Sepoy Vikram Singh and Rahul Bose as Mukund's Commanding Officer, Colonel Amit Singh Dabas. Lallu, Shreekumar, Shyam Mohan, Ajaey Naga Raaman, Mir Salman and Gaurav Venkatesh round up the supporting cast. Amaran is based on Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh's book India's Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Millitary.
Amaran's crew includes music composer GV Prakash Kumar, cinematographer CH Sai, editor Kalaivanan, and stunt director Stefan Richter. The film is bankrolled by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International along with Sony Pictures International Productions.
