Parvathy Thiruvothu has expressed her unwavering support for Nayanthara in the actress’s ongoing legal dispute with Dhanush over the use of footage from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in the Netflix documentary Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale. Parvathy initially took to Instagram to back Nayanthara by sharing Nayanthara's open letter with a 'salute' emoji. Speaking to Manorama News, the Uyare actor elaborated on her reasons for standing by the "Lady Superstar".

“It wasn’t a long due process,” Parvathy said, explaining her decision to support Nayanthara. “I saw her post, and I think I immediately felt like sharing it. For a person—a self-made woman, a ‘Lady Superstar’ like Nayanthara—if she has to write a three-page open letter, then that speaks volumes about the situation. We all know her; she is not someone who gives interviews without reason or makes casual statements. So, if someone like her writes three pages about the sorrows they have undergone, that is why it is called an open letter.”

Nayanthara’s letter accused Dhanush of refusing to grant a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the use of a three-second behind-the-scenes clip from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. It alleged that his refusal stemmed from personal grievances rather than business reasons. The dispute, which has escalated into a Rs 10 crore legal battle, has divided Kollywood.

Parvathy highlighted the significance of supporting Nayanthara’s fight. “She has also mentioned that she will address it legally. I felt it was important to support her because this is a real issue she is facing, and I stand by her. However, I don’t want to claim that everyone supported her because I did. I believe those who supported her could see the value in her words and recognise that what she is saying is true,” she said. Reflecting on her empathy for Nayanthara, Parvathy added, “Over time, we start to see ourselves in others, and that is why I did it. I felt it was a valid and important thing to do.”

The legal dispute escalated with Dhanush filing a civil suit at the Madras High Court on Wednesday.
