Actor Sathyaraj has opened up on the ongoing issue on film reviewers and their targetted negative views on films. In a recent press interaction, the veteran star said that although it is the duty and the right of a reviewer to share their opinions on films, they should not reflect personal hate.

Speaking in context of the negative reviews for Suriya's latest film Kanguva, Sathyaraj said, "It is the duty and the right of a reviewer/journalist to share their review on a film. But sometimes there is an excessive focus on the negatives of a film and it is visible for a recent film."

"There is a difference between sharing your likes and dislikes about a film and spreading targeted hatred. I feel that is wrong. Views about a film is personal and there is no objection about it. But reviews should not reflect personal hate because we actors get money for a film and the producers fund a film. You can't hate a film because you don't like our personal life. This is condemnable," he added.

It was only a few days back that the Tamil Film Active Producers Association demanded a ban on public/fan reviews for all the first shows in theatre premises.

This news had come days after Producer G Dhananjeyan shared a long note on his X handle stating that he watches all films in theatres for the last four decades and that he would appreciate the makers if he likes a film on social media and if he doesn't like them, he feels sorry for the team and the loss that they incur. He added that he "wishes and pray" the audience understand the difference between criticising a film constructively and spreading hatred about a film and stay in their "limits" while expressing their views.
