Pani, Joju George's first film as a director in which he also plays a key role, is set to release with Tamil dubs in theatres tomorrow. The film is slated for release in theatres across Tamil Nadu. It tells the story of a group of powerful gangsters in Thrissur who have been leading low-profile lives, compared to their crime-ridden past. But when two youngsters (Junaiz VP and Sagar Surya) commit a criminal act on one of their family members, it leads to a chain of retributive deeds that have much mental toll on the gangsters and their family while leaving a trail of blood in its wake.

Pani has already caught the attention of the audience in Kerala and among those who keep a close eye on Malayalam cinema. The film has earned appreciation for its making as well as the performance by Joju, Junaiz, Sagar Surya, Abhinaya, and Bobby Kurian. Joju's Suriya 44 director Karthik Subbaraj described it as a "superb action thriller" that he "loved." On the other hand, Anurag Kashyap, who also directs Joju in one of his upcoming films, termed it an "absolutely unmissable" feature that "rises to the level of some of the best Korean new wave films."

Joju also said that his Thug Life co-star Kamal Haasan called him and appreciated the film.
