Writer-director SS Kumaran: Vignesh Shivan snatched LIC title from me

Some actors took Nayanthara's side, who interestingly co-starred with Dhanush, while others called this a 'marketing strategy' ahead of the documentary's release on November 18

Hours after actor Nayanthara alleged that Dhanush egotistically remained indecisive on giving a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for using some songs and footage from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan produced by Dhanush's Wunderbar Films for her upcoming documentary film Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale, writer-director SS Kumaran charged Vignesh Shivan that he went on to use the title 'LIC' that he had in a 'high-handed' manner.

In a written note and television interviews, SS Kumaran accused that Vignesh Shivan, in a high-handed manner, sought the title 'LIC' from him. He wrote, "When Vignesh and Nayanthara could wait for two years to seek permission from Dhanush as he is more powerful, why didn't they follow the same procedures with me while taking away LIC from me." He further asked if Dhanush should answer in the court of God, where will Vignesh Shivan and Nayanthara answer?

Justifying Dhanush's discretion as a producer on how his content should be used, Kumaran added, saying, "If they want to use those footages for a commercial reason, then it is not unfair for them to pay for the same. Are you doing anything for free? You are setting a bad example for those in the film industry by trying to use our (his and Dhanush's) content for free."

Kollywood turned into a battlefield on Saturday with Nayanthara launching salvos against her Yaaradi Nee Mohini co-star. Some actors took Nayanthara's side, who interestingly co-starred with Dhanush, while others called this a 'marketing strategy' ahead of the documentary's release on November 18. Those who back Dhanush asked why Nayanthara is complaining now ahead of the documentary's release when she claims she was struggling to obtain the no objection certificate (NOC) for using some songs and footage from the film for the past two years.

Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale is all set to premiere on Netflix on November 18, on the occasion of the actor's birthday. The actor is also awaiting the release of Test, Mannangatti Since 1960 and is working on Toxic, Mookuthi Amman 2, Dear Students, and a film with Kavin.
