With actor-politician Vijay turning 50 on June 22, his action thriller Thuppakki was planned to be released on June 21.

One more hit film of the actor, Pokkiri, directed by Prabhu Deva will be screened again on the same date.

The 2007 action film, a remake of Mahesh Babu's Telugu film of the same name, follows a thug Tamil (Vijay), who is above gang affiliations, murders or kidnaps at the behest any gang provided they pay him well. However, when he infiltrates the gang of Alibhai (Prakash Raj), we learn that he is a cop under cover with a purpose behind all the countless murders he committed. With his cover blown, will he still be able accomplish what he has taken up is what the film is about.

The film stars Vijay and Asin in lead, with Nasser, Sriman, Vincent Asokan, Anand Raj and Prakash Raj cast in prominent roles.

An interesting trivia about Pokkiri is that the film was screened for a 100 days when it was re-released in a "shifting process" in theatre, where a latest film did not get expected footfall and no other new film could be replaced.
