On Wednesday, the OTT platform Aha Tamil announced that The Akaali will premiere on the platform on July 17. The film hit theatres on May 31 and opened to unfavourable reviews.

Written and directed by Mohamed Asif Hameed, The Akaali stars Swayam Siddha, Nasser, Vinoth Kishan, Arjai, Jayakumar, Thalaivasal Vijay, Vinothini, Yamini, Dharani Reddy, and Elavarasan.

The Akaali revolves around a group of investigators looking into the evil deeds of occult practitioners in a mountainous village known as Nandesam.

The Akaali is produced by P Ukesh Varaan under the PBS Productions banner. It has cinematography by Giri Murphy, music by Anish Mohan, stunts by Dinesh Kasi, and editing and VFX by Iniyavan Pandian.
