The makers of the upcoming film Alangu released the second single, 'Kongu Song',  from the film on Wednesday. Kidakuzhi Mariyammal has lent her voice to this folk song which has been composed by Ajesh and has lyrics by Kavin.

Alangu is directed by SP Shakthivel, who has previously helmed Urumeen (2015) and Payanigal Gavanikkavum (2022).

The film stars Chemban Vinod Jose, Kaali Venkat, Sarath Appani and newcomer Gunanidhi in prominent roles. The film is billed to be based on true events that occurred on the borders of Tamil Nadu and Kerala and will revolve around a conflict between Malayali political groups and Tamil tribal youths.

In a previous conversation with CE, the director said, "Chemban Vinod and Sarath Appani play siblings, and the former essays the role of a politician, while Gunanidhi represents the tribal gang, and a dog plays a crucial role in the film."

Apart from Ajesh, Alangu's technical crew comprises cinematographer S Pandikumar and editor San Lokesh. A release date for the film is yet to be announced.
