Hanuman Ansh, the surprise blockbuster of 2026, finally has a release date. Directed by Vishal Chaturvedi, the devotional drama will premiere on SonyLiv on November 27, with a final theatrical window of 16 weeks.
The film, based on the life of reverent poet and saint Neem Karoli Baba, first released in theatres on August 7. After doing lukewarm business at the ticket counters for the first two weeks, the film slowly picked up at the box office before registering unprecedented occupancies for any film in its 5th, 6th and 7th week, breaking all records including of films like Dhurandhar 2.
After 5 weeks of humungous business, the film was finally released in overseas market as well, and performed reasonably well there. Reportedly made on a budget of Rs 2 crore, Hanuman Ansh closed its theatrical window at Rs 453 crores, out of which 48 crores came from overseas business.
The devotional drama is also a rare non-franchise movie among Hindi films to perform well at the box office this year. Written and directed by Vishal Chaturvedi, Hanuman Ansh is based on the life of Neem Karoli Baba, more popularly known as Maharaj ji. The film’s stupendous success has also led to a massive spike in the number of pilgrims and tourists at Kainchi Dham, a place highly associated with Maharaj ji.
Produced by Swambhu Media Network, Ragini S, Namrata G S, and Anupriya A Nagar, the devotional-drama features Chandan K Anand and Shobhinav Satyaa in the lead cast, and actors like Nikhil Dubey, Udaysinh Rajput, Purnima Tiwari, and Mannish Chaudhary in the ensemble cast.
While there have been reports of a sequel being planned by the makers, Vishal Chaturvedi is also planning a film titled Rambola. The film, based on the life of reverent poet Tulsidas, was announced in September.
