Kaali Venkat's next titled Appane Muruga

The film went on floors in Chennai on Thursday with a pooja ceremony.

Actor Kaali Venkat, who was last seen in Kamalakannan's Kurangu Pedal, is all set to headline his next titled Appane Muruga. The film will be directed by debut filmmaker Guru Ramasamy, who has previously worked as co-director to Late director Rasu Madhuravan. Appane Muruga went on floors in Chennai on Thursday with a pooja ceremony.

Apart from Kaali Venkat, the film also stars Saravanan, MS Bhaskar, Munishkanth, Madhumitha, Janaki, Super Good Subramani, Mohana Sundaram and Pudhuvai Boopalan of Taanakaaran fame, among others.

The story revolves around a man, who has lost his life's earnings, due to his to online gambling. How he gets out of troubled waters with his effort and hardwork, thereby redeeming his lost happiness forms the crux of this story.

On the technical crew, the film has cinematography by Jaya Prakash, who has previously cranked the camera for the critically acclaimed film Kidaa. It has editing handled by Ramar and stunts by Elango. The film is produced by R Sathish Thangam, RG Sekar and Sasikumar of True Team Entertainment. The next schedule of filming for Appane Muruga will take place in Ambasamudram, Pollachi, and Kerala.

A release date is yet to be announced by the makers.
