AR Rahman revealed in a recent interaction with fans in Malaysia that he met Michael Jackson the next day after his 2009 Oscar win for the Slumdog Millionaire song Jai Ho! in Los Angeles. Speaking about his meeting with the late pop sensation, Rahman said, "He was very kind; we spoke about music and world peace. He said, why don’t we do the next We Are the World, introduced me to his kids. He even showed me how he dances from the heart."

In the interaction, Rahman also stated that he talked to Enthiran director Shankar about his encounter with the "King of Pop" after he got back home and that the filmmaker even considered hiring the singer for the Rajinikanth-Aishwarya Rai starrer. "Shankar sir asked me whether Michael would sing for the film. I replied, saying, 'Wow, will he sing in Tamil?' He (Shankar) said, 'No matter what you say, we would do it together.'"

Unfortunately, the dream collaboration did not materialise as Michael passed away in June 2009. "He was sick at that time,” revealed Rahman.
