GV Prakash Kumar's Rebel clears censorship formalities

CE Features

Earlier, we had reported that actor GV Prakash Kumar would be headlining an upcoming Tamil film titled Rebel. It has now been learned that the film cleared the censorship formalities with a U/A certificate. The makers announced the same on their social media handles.

Directed by debutant filmmaker Nikesh RS, the upcoming film stars Mamitha Baiju as the female lead, marking her Tamil debut.

In an earlier conversation with CE, director Nikesh said, "I was brought up in Kerala's Munnar. It is a period film which will showcase the life of people in the town. The film will centre around students who study there and how they are affected by the politics unfolding in the institution."

"Rebel would be a film for Tamil people. This is an important story that needs to be told and holds relevance for years to come," added Nikesh.

The film, which falls under the genre of action-drama, also encompasses elements of romance, comedy and politics. Both GV Prakash and Mamitha will play college students in the film. The film also stars Karunaas, Subramania Siva, Shalu Rahim, Venkatesh V.P., Aaditya Bhaskar, Kalloori Vinoth and Aathira, among others.

It is to be noted that apart from acting, GV Prakash also serves as the film's music director.

Rebel's technical crew comprises Arun Radhakrishnan (cinematographer) and Vetre Krishnan (editor).
