The makers of Vishal's 34th film Rathnam, released the first single 'Vaarai Rathnam' from the film on Monday. Composed by Devi Sri Prasad, Shenbagaraj has crooned the song which has lyrics by Viveka. 

The lyrical video of 'Vaarai Rathnam' has glimpses of the fierce Vishal as the titular Rathnam. The song seems to be one introducing the hero and heralding the arrival of the saviour. 

Rathnam is written and directed by Hari, who has previously worked with Vishal for Thamirabharani (2007) and Poojai (2014). Besides Vishal, the film also stars Priya Bhavani Shankar, Gautham Menon, Murali Sharma, and Samuthirakani, among others. 

 Karthik Subbaraj's Stone Bench Productions is backing the project along with Kaarthekeyan Santhanam's Zee Studios. Rathnam marks the first collaboration between Vishal and Devi Sri Prasad. However, the composer has previously worked with Hari on his directorials such as Aaru, Singam, Singam 2, Venghai, and Saami 2, among others.

The film will feature cinematography by M Sukumar, and editing by TS Jay. Rathnam is scheduled to have a release in Summer 2024.
